Charlie Lake is a medium-sized lake (31.2 km²)  with a shallow mean depth of approximately 5 m. The surrounding watershed is relatively large (298 km²), comprised of rolling terrain with seasonal streams flowing in most valleys. The major inflow and outflow streams are both Stoddart Creek. The surrounding forest cover is dominated by trembling aspen, with areas cleared for agricultural development. The resulting habitat is home for many fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, plants, and mammals.
